Salami is a cold cut made from ground pork or a mixture of meats, particularly appreciated at appetizer time accompanied by a few slices of fresh bread and pickles. Salami in Italian means sausage, the singular being salame. In Italy, salami therefore actually refers to all kinds of dry sausages.
